Terms of Service

You must be 13 years or older to use CANON (16+ in the European Economic Area). You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Use a strong password and don't share it.

You may only create one account per person. Accounts created by bots, scripts, or for impersonation are prohibited and will be terminated.

Your Canon — favorites, ratings, notes, lists, and taste data you create — belongs to you. You grant CANON a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, display, and process your content solely to operate and improve the service.

Public content (public profiles, public favorites) may be indexed by search engines and displayed to other CANON users. You control the visibility of your content via privacy settings and Ghost Mode.

You can export your data as JSON at any time from Settings → Account. You can delete your account and all associated data from Settings → Account → Delete Account. Deletion goes through a 30-day grace period before permanent removal.

You agree not to:

• Post content that is unlawful, harassing, abusive, defamatory, or discriminatory
• Impersonate any person, brand, or entity
• Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from CANON without permission
• Attempt to circumvent access controls, rate limits, or authentication
• Use the service to train machine learning models without explicit written consent
• Distribute spam, malware, or unsolicited commercial content
• Interfere with the integrity or performance of the service

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, with or without notice depending on severity.

CANON Pro is a paid subscription ($5/month or equivalent annual rate) that unlocks additional features. Billing is processed by Stripe. You can cancel at any time from Settings → Billing; access continues until the end of your billing period.

Refunds are handled case-by-case. If you believe you were billed in error, contact us at billing@vaultsparkstudios.com. Prices may change with 30 days' notice to existing subscribers.

Downgrading from Pro to Free preserves all your Canon data. Pro-only features become read-only (not deleted) on downgrade.

CANON's software, design, brand, and product surfaces are proprietary and owned by VaultSpark Studios LLC. All rights reserved. No part of CANON may be reproduced, distributed, or reverse-engineered without explicit written permission.

Third-party catalog content (film metadata, album art, book covers, etc.) is provided under license from TMDB, Spotify, Google Books, IGDB, and other providers. These remain the property of their respective owners.

"CANON", the CANON logo, and "What is your Canon?" are trademarks of VaultSpark Studios LLC.

CANON integrates with third-party services including Supabase (database & auth), Stripe (payments), Anthropic Claude (AI), Voyage AI (embeddings), TMDB, Spotify, Google Books, and IGDB (catalog data). Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.

We are not responsible for the availability or content of third-party services.

CANON is provided "as is" and "as available." We don't guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free operation, or that AI-generated content (Taste DNA, recommendations) will be accurate or suitable for any specific purpose.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, VaultSpark Studios LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of CANON. Our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid for CANON Pro during that period, or $10, whichever is greater.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict of law principles. You agree to resolve any disputes through binding individual arbitration rather than class action or jury trial, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Before filing any arbitration claim, contact us at legal@vaultsparkstudios.com and give us 30 days to resolve the issue informally.

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of CANON after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
